Healthy Body. Healthy Soul.

If your lessons have been following in-step with The BMC Essentials, you’ve spent the past several meetings discussing the differences between the Natural Soul and the G-dly Soul as they relate to becoming a Bat Mitzvah.

But now it’s time to dive into a topic that — to preteens, at least — can seem a lot more personal.

Their bodies are changing, and they might find themselves obsessing more about their appearance and hygiene. Luckily for them, you are their secret weapon. And luckily for you, we’re yours.

In the Essentials‘ “Trials & Tribulations Along the Way”, we explain their bodies to them like this:

Your body is like a jewelry box. It contains and protects your most valuable treasure — the soul. You need to treat the body with dignity and respect too.

Show the girls that while the soul is the most important, we need to take care of our bodies too. We can do this by exercising, eating healthy foods and maintaining proper hygiene.

As the Essentials suggests, you can get out yoga mats, do some fun dance moves or go really old school and do some double dutch. (Seriously, some one has to teach them that, right, or else it becomes a lost art!)

But we know our girls like to eat, so we’ve decided to get out the aprons and dish out some delicious whole foods, by way of the oh-so-delectable smoothie. We’ve nicknamed one of our favorite dessert concoctions the Peanut Butter Chocolate Surprise because it has all the flavor of a chocolate shake without the sugar and dairy overload.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Surprise

  • 1 c. ice
  • 1 c. milk (feel free to go dairy-free here. Almond and soy milks both work great!)
  • 2 T. peanut butter (for peanut allergies, you can substitute almond butter or sunflower seed butter)
  • 2 T. cocoa powder
  • 1 ripe banana (the riper it is, the sweeter flavor)
  • 1-2 T. honey
Add all of the ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Serve and enjoy immediately.

ROUND OUT THE MEETING

PREP THE INGREDIENTS

Get the smoothie fixings prepped and ready. Make sure you have enough bananas, ice and other materials to give each girl their own cup filled with goodness. Oh, and whatever you do, don’t forget the blender and the BMC apron

USE OUR NEW BMC CUPS

Seriously, how cute are these! Take advantage of the smoothie session and gift your girls these one-of-a-kind plastic cups. They say: Healthy Body. Healthy Soul. It’s one of the key messages of the lesson. You’ll be helping them get their eight glasses a day, plus promoting the BMC. It’s a win-win if you ask us.

FILL UP THE GOODIE BAGS

We suggest stuffing our pouch or gift bags full with pampering products such as a jump rope, soap, lotion, deodorant, a compact, a nail file, minty dental floss and clear lip gloss. Feel free to use sample sizes.
