Mock Gameshow Can Elevate Lesson

I THINK craft

“I’ll take Instinct or I Think for $100!”

It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

We think so. For leaders who plan — or who already have begun — to teach  “Get to Know the Souls,” consider setting up a Jeopardy-style gameshow as an alternative to the ‘Instinct or I Think’ activity laid out in The BMC Essentials.

The lesson teaches the girls to recognize the difference between thoughts that come from the Natural Soul versus those that come from the G-dly Soul.

GET THE GAME READY

Gameshow prep doesn’t get much easier than this. You’ll need some construction paper, a marker, and tape/tacks.

On one side of the pieces of paper, write Instinct or I Think. Then write a dollar amount. (ex: Instinct or I Think | $200). Feel free to go as high as you’d like, depending on the number of questions you can think up.

On the reverse side of the paper, write the question. (ex: Is it Instinct or I Think: I want to go hang with my friends?)

Adhere the papers to a wall in numerical order. You can also have extra categories in addition to Instinct or I Think. Add them to wall too.

GAME ON

Depending on the number of girls you have in your club, you can either divide them into teams or let them play the game individually. You get to play the game show host (fun for you, we know).

The girls can flip a coin to see who goes first, and then game is on.

The team or individual who wins, earns a prize of your choice. Personally, we love our All-Purpose Mini-Tote, but we’ll let you decide.

LEAVE TIME FOR BRACELET CRAFT

It’s all about meaningful simplicity with this add-on craft. Keep yourself sane and the girls entertained by letting them create beaded bracelets with the message I THINK. You’ll need enough beads, thread, and clasps for each girl and a couple pairs of scissors. (You also might want to get a few extra sets of beads and clasps, just in case you need them.)

The girls be wearing the meaning of the lesson home with them on their wrists!
